The project

Born in the French Alpine valleys, Deux Mille™ is a mountain clothing brand that seeks to bring meaning, style, and emotion back into outdoor wear.

At a time when mountain clothing is often defined by performance alone, Deux Mille explores another dimension of the mountains: their culture, their history, and what they make us feel. The wonder of vast landscapes. The freedom to choose one’s own path. The adventure that begins the moment we step beyond the everyday. But also the simple pleasure of being outside, moving, playing, and feeling more alive.

Deux Mille was born from that feeling. The idea that the mountains do not only give us altitude, but a more intense way of experiencing the world.

Why “Deux Mille”?

The name comes from two origins.

The first is altitude. Two thousand meters is a symbolic threshold in the mountains. It is where landscapes begin to change, where the air feels sharper, and where something starts to shift. The first summits, the long days outside, the lingering snow, the first real sensations of adventure.

The second is the year 2000, the birth year of the founder. A generation shaped by streetwear, by a strong sensitivity to clothing, silhouette, and graphics, but one that is now looking for more meaning, more sincerity, and a stronger connection to what is real.

Deux Mille stands at the meeting point of these two worlds: altitude and culture, mountain and clothing, heritage and a contemporary vision.

What inspires us

Deux Mille is inspired by the mountains as they are truly lived. Not only as a backdrop or a performance space, but as a place of experience, emotion, and freedom.

The brand draws from:

  • the heritage of alpine stories,

  • expedition gear and mountain objects,

  • the silhouettes of past mountaineers,

  • the visual archives of mountain culture,

  • herbariums, notebooks, maps, tickets, signs, materials, and all the traces associated with departure.

We are also inspired by what the mountains awaken in us at our most simple and instinctive level: the desire to go and see, to follow a trail, to spend time outside, to still be capable of wonder. For us, the mountains are also a playground. A place where we feel freer, lighter, more curious, and more alive.

Our vision of clothing

We create garments that seek to connect function, silhouette, and story.

Clothes designed to be worn outside, but also in everyday life. Pieces that can belong on a trail, by a lake, in the city, or in the space between the two. Because today, mountain clothing is no longer limited to technical use alone. It has also become a language, an attitude, and a way of moving through the world.

At Deux Mille, a good product must have:

  • a real function,

  • a strong silhouette,

  • solid materials,

  • true durability,

  • and a story.

We place great importance on functional design. For us, clothing should not only look good. It should work well, fit well, age well, and remain relevant over time.

Materials and production

Our pieces are produced in Europe, in small batches, with the intention of doing less, but better.

Whenever possible, we seek to use organic materials and to work with workshops that allow for a more responsible, more local, and more thoughtful way of producing.

This approach is not a decorative argument. It is part of how we think about clothing. If a product is meant to last, to be worn often, and to accompany real experiences outside, then it should also be made with care, honesty, and respect.

Another idea of outdoor wear

Deux Mille is not interested in turning outdoor clothing into a simple display of technical performance.
The brand seeks instead to develop another vision of mountain wear: more cultural, more sensitive, more graphic, and more rooted.

We believe outdoor clothing can be:

  • functional without feeling cold,

  • technical without being soulless,

  • elegant without losing its connection to real use.

We want to create garments that speak not only of equipment, but also of place, memory, movement, and that particular joy that comes from spending time outside.

The founder

Deux Mille was founded by Paul Pigeon, born in Grenoble in 2000.

Growing up at the foot of the Alps, he developed a deep connection to the mountains through hiking, climbing, time spent outside with friends, landscapes, stories, and everything that makes up alpine culture in a broad sense. At the same time, clothing, design, and graphics have always shaped the way he looks at the world.

Deux Mille was born from the desire to bring these two passions together: the mountains and clothing.
To build a brand capable of connecting alpine heritage, design, function, style, and everything that makes a product more than just a product.
